This CD contains a copy of the LXR-Test Mathematics 30 item question bank. Please use the question bank in any way that you see fit within your school. We ask is that you complete and return the enclosed licence agreement and do not distribute the question bank in any form to any persons outside of your school. Please inform us of any errors or problems that you encounter. If you have any questions for which you own the copyright and are willing to share with the teachers in our province, we would be very pleased to receive them in order for us to add them to the Alberta Distance Learning Centre question banks. (Your giving us the banks would have to be accompanied by a letter giving us the copyright. This allows us to share the item banks with others in Alberta at no charge.)
LXR-Test version 4.1 will be required to use these compressed files. If you do not have this version of LXR-Test, please look into updating your copy.
The Mathematics 30 item question bank has been created to match the Alberta Distance Learning Centre (formerly Alberta Correspondence School) Student Study Guide Print materials. The Mathematics 30 course (and all ADLC mathematics courses) are broken down into Units, Topics and Objectives. These three areas are represented in the names and objective statements in the question bank items. For example, the objective name of one question in this question bank is Math30.421. This means that this particular question corresponds to the material taught in Unit 4, Topic 2 and Objective 1 of the Alberta Distance Learning Centre Mathematics 30 course. We will supply you with a list of the Units, Topics and Objectives for the course to do a mapping of the question bank items to the order in which you are teaching the curriculum objectives.
We have also included a correlation of the item question bank modules and objectives onto the curriculum objectives of the Program of Studies. The curriculum objectives of the courses have been changing in the last number of years and all of the item question banks have not kept pace. Therefore some of the correlations may be weak. Please inform us of any problems that you encounter in using the correlations.
The documents have two forms. The first form has been created using Microsoft Word. For those teachers that do not have Word, the documents have also been prepared using TeachText. Since TeachText comes with your Macintosh microcomputer, you will be able to print out the documents.
Another feature which we have added to these banks is key words. This allows you to sort the questions in your bank by question type. For example, if you want a test consisting of only multiple choice questions, choose SELECT QUICK from the select menu and enter IT - MC in key word 1. Click on GO and all multiple choice questions are selected. Next click on the test icon and select the questions you wish to place on your test. The same process may be done for short answer (IT - SA) or extended response (IT - ER) questions.
